Printheads are moving and replaceable parts in printers. Thermal printheads are used in thermal transfer and direct thermal printers. Because the thermal printhead is in constant direct contact with the passing label or ribbon/thermal transfer foil, it is subject to continuous wear. As soon as print quality deteriorates, becomes faint, or even patchy, the printhead (thermal strip) needs to be replaced.
