Printheads are movable and replaceable components. Printhead components. Thermal printheads are used in thermal transfer and direct thermal printers. Because the thermal printhead is in constant direct contact with the passing label or ribbon/thermal transfer foil, it is subject to continuous wear. As soon as the print quality deteriorates, becomes faint, or even patchy, the printhead must be replaced. Replacing these printheads is straightforward and generally always cost-effective on all Bizerba printers.

Label printers are designed so that replacement is usually quick and easy.
