Printheads/thermal printheads are moving and replaceable parts in the printer. Thermal printheads are used in thermal transfer and direct thermal printers. Because the thermal printhead is in constant direct contact with the passing label or ribbon/thermal transfer foil, continuous wear occurs. As soon as print quality deteriorates, becomes faint, or even patchy, the printhead (thermal strip) needs to be replaced.
